Strategic Leverage:  Bringing Clarity to Modeling and Messaging

As earnings pressure persists and net worth ratios remain elevated, more credit union CFOs are being asked a difficult question:  Are we using our balance sheet as effectively as we should?  This session provides a clear, practical framework for evaluating strategic leverage opportunities without compromising safety, examiner expectations, or board confidence.  We will walk through how to assess your strategic net worth position, model leverage and funding options, and interpret long‑run impacts on earnings, capital, and risk.  Just as importantly, we will focus on how to translate modeling results into clear, defensible narratives for senior management and boards, highlighting assumptions, tradeoffs, and decision boundaries in a way that supports confident governance.

Participants will leave with practical tools, examples, and communication approaches they can apply immediately in ALCO discussions, strategic planning, and board conversations.

C. myers will be presenting on Monday, May 18 at 9:30 am with a repeat session at 11:05 am.
